Today, a select group of seven designers were featured in partnership with High Point Market at Dering Hall, having to create moodboards to demonstrate how they would design a room for a (virtual) showhouse. Each of the participants selected had to design a space inspired by American design icons, drawing from the incredible product assortment available at High Point Market. One of the seven participating designers who was selected to participate in Dering Hall's Virtual Showhouse is interior decorator, tastemaker & design blogger Paloma Contreras of Houston, Texas. Paloma designed this lovely dining room - inspired by American design icon: Billy Baldwin.

"Billy Baldwin is one of my personal design icons and I have been feeling very inspired by his Arbre de Matisse fabric. I opted to design a dining room inspired by some of the hallmarks of Mr.Baldwin’s work– skirted dining tables paired in groups, rich chocolate lacquered walls, a mix of abstract art and traditional style furniture, and of course, I had to include some of his famous slipper chairs. The space is glamorous, yet cozy and intimate." Paloma Contreras - La Dolce Vita blog.

When I first started blogging (Fall 2009), I had come across Paloma's blog, La Dolce Vita, and loved it! I admire her eye for style, and the fortitude it took for her to launch her own on-line magazine called High Gloss, which even-though the magazine had to fold, Paloma continued to become a well known and liked style tastemaker. Paloma has graciously been featured in several online & print magazines (see here) along with most recently becoming an online contributor at Domino shelter magazine.

Paloma launched her widely read blog, La Dolce Vita in 2007 and her interior design business followed as her readers’ interest in her style grew.

Last week, my blog post contribution I wrote for Hadley Court design blog, I had selected Paloma for a list of "Top 10" pinners to follow - you can view an Hadley Court by clicking this link: Top 10 Creatives, Designers, and Tastemakers to Follow on Pinterest. So today, I was happy to see Paloma was selected by Dering Hall, in partnership with #HPMKT, to create a virtual design showhouse.

  1. You really can't beat the food at this place; they have the best vegetarian meals and the most adorable dishes for the kids. The service at venues in Chicago also was impeccable. The salad I had for dinner was delicious as well as the scallop appetizer. The main course of filet mignon and dessert soufflé was also awesome!
